Ridgeway House belongs to my brother handed down from our parents. We were lucky to grow up in this rural spot enjoying cats, dogs, geese, chickens and horses. It was hardwork as animals mean early mornings and late evenings with plenty of labour and no foreign holidays but we were richly rewarded clattering around on the ponies to see who could go the fastest.
The house is a converted outbuilding that used to stable horses 25 years ago. Our parents purchased the site in 1979 and was ran it as a riding school with 20 horses having the freedom of the local pastures. It's an area of outstanding natural beauty with picturesque rolling downland perfect for 4 legged animals. Surrounded by thoroughbred racehorses the village is also famous for the movie 'Champions' (1984) starring John Hurt who played Bob Champion a steeple chase jockey who was diagnosed with cancer but fought it and won the Grand National in 1981. It was filmed on the gallops you can see in the short distance from the house, bring your binoculars as you may spot a steed early in the morning on the gallops.
For the last 5 years it's been used for short term holiday rental for many different celebrations. We've been lucky enough to witness many happy faces come and go!
