We left after first night of one week booking
Context is required: this was week 3 of a 4 week trip to the UK. We needed a property with a working washing machine and that was also clean. The washing machine didn’t work, although it was obviously very new. The standard of cleanliness left something to be desired. The owner offered to get her maintenance person in the following evening to look at the washing machine, so she tried, but we were disappointed and had no clean clothes to wear. We found alternative accommodation (albeit in West Sussex, so not an ideal location) and wrote this property experience off as a lesson in booking through VRBO.. the owner offered to pay for laundry service, or for her friend/manager to do our laundry. This involved more complication and/or time wasted waiting for collection and delivery. On reflection this proved unacceptable so we cut our losses and moved on. I did report this problem with the washing machine to VRBO on our first and only evening. Basically there isn’t much to be done. Lost money but as I said a learning experience when dealing with single property owners which I suspect this is. Go with a property management company if you want clean and functional. To the owner, I hope you got the washing machine fixed. I’m sure you’ll probably try and blame me, but if you invested in a good deep clean, some redecoration and new linens this would be a great property.
