Our party really enjoyed staying in casa Kayak. The outdoor scenery is very tropical and inviting. We loved the hammocks around the house. We enjoyed the beach access. We truly enjoyed Flor cooking for us. She made us fish that was delicious! and also a typical dish from Nicaragua (Vigoron). She also made breakfast for our party. She was very nice and helpful. The only thing I did not like are the locks of the room. I believe the locks should lock like regular locks from the inside of the room, not from the inside and out. I felt very uneasy with the locks because anyone could lock you in. Other than that everything was amazing!
Wonderful beachfront property
This was our first trip to Nicaragua and we were looking for something with a great beach in an authentic Nicaraguan town. Casa Kaya definitely fit the bill. Josh responded to all our email quickly and our arrival and check-in went smoothly. The pre-arrival information was very helpful in finding our way out of Managua and to the property. We were met by the housekeeper Flora and the night watchman. This house has wonderful outdoor spaces for relaxing and the beach is sandy, very quiet and great for playing in the waves. The property is well maintained and clean and it felt very secure. The kitchen has all the necessary amenities to make a good meal and we used the outdoor grill also. The bedrooms are very basic. The main downside to them is the lack of closet space (so we lived out of suitcases on the floor) and the beds/pillows were not particularly comfortable but we all slept OK. Also there are no beach towels provided and there is no washing machine, so plan accordingly. There is a small store across the street where you can get a few basics but major shopping needs to be done in Leon. Poneloya is off the gringo trail and therefore there is not much available in terms of restaurants and activities. Leon and some of the other beach towns are easily accessible by car on well paved roads. As a side note, we were travelling with two children and never felt unsafe. We enjoyed Nicaragua more than Costa Rica and Panama.
Definitely I highly recommend Casa Kaya for your vacations, we have the privilege of staying in this beautiful property on March 22 thru the 24 and my family and I have the best experience. Thank you Josue, Ofelia and Flor for making us feel like home.
All's well that ends well.
It was our second trip to Nicaragua as a group so we felt a bit more self-assured traveling there. And one member of our party was born on isla Ometepe, so he had family all over Nicaragua and was a "rusty" native-speaker. The trouble started day one..we were two hours out of Managua in a rental car when we had a flat tire on the road. The roads in Nicaragua are busy with foot, bicycle and horse riders. so lots of people stopped to offer "assistance". One helped himself/herself to the driver's backpack with ID, passport, money, medications..everything! We were a bit in shock and totally bummed out. Well, Ofelia, the manager stepped right up and assisted us most admirable ways. She helped us get the tire repaired and escorted the driver on three different occasions to two different police stations to make the reports. She contacted the embassy for us. She and Flor (the housekeeper) let us use their cell phones whenever we needed to. Now to the accommodations..just as described and everything worked well. It was all clean and Flor came daily to assure that it stayed that way. We engaged her to cook fabulous fish dishes for us which were incredible; she had a fresh fruit breakfast and coffee ready each morning. The beach was formidable and the waves would knock you over. There were no crowds during the week so it was our territory. The Pollo Negro, a restaurant five minutes walk down the street had WIFI so I was happy..and great been prices. Nicaragua is not known for pizza but the mexican cook fixed a seafood "pizza" that I shall never meet again. I suggest a car (with good tires) as public transportation is limited but there are many buses daily back and forth to Lyon. Finding food locally is possible but requires some language skills. For a larger party, there is plenty of room. The bed I had was comfortable..I heard others snoring so I guess they were satisfied as well.
Πολύ κοντά στην León, μπορεί κανείς να έχει πρόσβαση ιστορικά ερείπια και το ηφαίστειο επιβίβασης, πεζοπορία και την κατασκήνωση.
