Tippi was not were it was shown in pics and the bed was a futon and you could fill every bar in your back very uncomfortable bed ended up staying 2 days then leaving . It was just set up in a back yard on plywood .
The Tipi is located creekside as advertised. As for the plywood yes it is on a plywood platform with 2x6 trusses and framed on railroad ties. Most tipis are erected on bare ground.
As for the futon to if you had a bad back you should have said something. I would have placed a 5inch thick memory foam mattress on top of the mattress. The Tipi is not in my backyard. It is 100 yards from my house..
Great week away from it all
Listening to the creek running with rolling thunder and a light rain tapping on the Tipi created the most incredibly perfect setting for reading a book in the fresh country air. Make sure to take a little time for some star gazing, it's awesome! Our host (Jim) was very informative about things to do while we were there and was spot on with every suggestion. Beautiful fly fishing, hiking, and day trips to Cody were all to be had within 30 minutes. When he tells you to take the bear tooth pass highway between Red Lodge and Yellowstone, do it! Simply put, it is breathtakingly amazing! A huge thank you to Jim for making our stay one to remember. We 100% recommend this property and we are planning to return! Thanks again Jim!
Perfect spot to unplug and unwind. Open landscape with amazing views and a creek to lull you asleep during the crisp nights. Kids (girl 7, boy 5) had a great time exploring the property and playing with Honey, the Golden Retriever. Property is far from the touristy areas and affords a real feel for WY. It is within reach of the east gate of Yellowstone and north east gate via the Chief Joseph/Beartooth Hwys (kids favorite memory are of feeding the chipmunks at the overlook). Cody, its restaurants and rodeo are a quick drive to the south. Flooding had displaced the Teepee from the original location but the fridge, microwave and most importantly coffee were all within reach. The new location offers unobstructed views from the horizon to the core of the galaxy (weather permitting). We only stayed for two days and wish we had more time on site. We had long adventures into the park, were exhausted upon returning and regrettably did not take advantage of the grill or campfire. Everything was available though had we the energy. My wife and I truly enjoyed conversing with Jim over coffee in the mornings. Jim is a great host, extremely knowledgeable, handled the kids badgering questions very well and will steer you in the right direction. If you are on the fence, go for it. I had my concerns, only stayed two nights and regret not having another day or two to catch our breath and camp out. Thank you Jim for sharing your backyard and time with us,
Matt, Jen, Parker, Sebastian.
Due to a flash flood, nothing was as advertised. Host was very personable and, I believe, tried to prepare us a suitable place (similar to, but still not what we were expecting based on VRBO photos and descriptions).
Teepee was advertised as on an island in a creek. 18' diameter, with pics of beds and coffee maker and small fridge all arranged nicely inside teepee. We knew the bathroom and shower were outside the teepee. No prob. But, teepee might have been 12' in diameter, no room inside for anything except 2 camping cots and a daybed of sorts. The plywood base of thin plywood screwed to 2x4s (at the seams only) was 18' across. It was not the platform that was described in VRBO's ad.
My disappointment is that SOMEONE (VRBO or the host) could have informed us before we drove from SW La. to the top of Wyoming to find out that a full month prior, the whole advertised set up was destroyed. We were unable to recoup any money, even with insurance, because of this.
The Tipi is Creek side as advertised. There was no flash flooding a month before their arrival. The island flooded last year due to the record snow fall in the mountains, this is where the creek originates. Due to a very hot spring and
record rains the island stayed flooded for most of the spring and summer in 2018. There was no flash flood. The Tipi is creekside as advertised and has been all year.
As for the size of the Tipi it is 18 feet at the base.
No misleading information is on the listing. If you were displeased with the site you should have said something.
This is the first I am hearing of it. As for the microwave and frig being in the Tipi,
It never was. There are no pictures of them being in the Tipi.
Heel fijn verblijf!
Our family of four stayed for two nights and wished we had added a third night. I loved listening to the rushing creek and birds as I woke up in the mornings. Looking over the vast landscape in the morning and evening was so relaxing and amazing for both my husband and me. This is a beautiful area, quiet and peaceful. My boys loved roasting marshmallows for Smores over the campfire and looking at the stars at night.
During our stay, we visited the Buffalo Bill Center of the West in Cody, which was incredible, drove on the scenic Beartooth Hwy and Chief Joseph Hwy, and spent time in the north and East side of Yellowstone. However, our highlight was our time at the tipi. We made breakfast and dinner using the grill and stove, ate by the creek, showered on the island (the boys really likes that!), and talked over the campfire. Jim has set up his tipi very comfortably and we had everything we needed for cooking and keeping our food/drinks cold in the fridge.
We fully enjoyed our stay, will definitely recommend for those wanting a Wyoming landscape experience, and will love to stay again. Jim, thank you!
